Federal Uncertainty: A one year follow up to the Conversation on SRR Sustainability
Following a turbulent 2025, research institutions across the United States continue to adjust practices and policies. The Core Administrator's Network's session on this topic at the 2025 meeting resulted in a JBT paper describing the climate last March. On March 9th of this year, we are following up with an ABRF Town Hall (https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/P9CiDP49SeiKLey-GcZNXw) that will include discussion and an updated survey. This session at the annual meeting will discuss the data collected from those sessions and serve as an opportunity to refine the data, understand more about current institutional climates and capture further thoughts on how institutional outlooks are impacting Shared Research Resources.
I have submitted this as a "Think Tank" session type: "A Think Tank is a session focusing on a single issue or question. Initially, a chairperson orients attendees to the issue or question and relevant context. Then, attendees break into small groups to explore the issue or question and finally reconvene to share their enhanced understanding through a discussion facilitated by the chairperson. The abstract should succinctly identify the question or issue to be addressed, the relevant contextual factors, and the roles of the individual breakout groups."
I listed myself as the speaker on behalf of the CAN and noted that we will have members of the CAN at the tables to help record the conversations.
