This email is a summary of our past meeting, a reminder about our next meeting, and the action items for this year (and last) that we are closing.  Please let me know if you have any questions.  I look forward to seeing you in a few weeks.

Meeting Minutes from July (A-I generated and cleaned up by ANW)

·       The group discussed the need for assistance with drafting an introduction for an asset management survey. 

·       Roxann, Nicole, Andy, Rajesh, and others discussed the importance of emergency management and prevention of incidents in research facilities, particularly related to freezer alarms and sample preservation. They also talked about the need for centralized biobanks and initiatives to incentivize researchers to use them. 

·       They acknowledged the difficulty in collecting the necessary metrics to demonstrate return on investment (ROI) and attract faculty, but recognized the importance of communicating the value of core facilities to the institution and research community.

·       They reviewed the importance of collecting data and calculating ROI for core facilities. They also explored strategies for automating data collection and discussed the potential of collaborating with marketing professionals to promote core facilities. 

·       The group discussed various topics including grant funding, record-keeping for core RIDs, the use of AI tools like GPT-4, and the need to find a new chair for the committee. They also planned to review and analyze relevant articles on ROI measures and reach out to Phil for a future discussion.
