  • 1.  Charging internal rates to other state institutions

    Posted 12-30-2024 11:09

    Dear CAN-CC members

We are trying to establish a rationale for charging internal rates to other state institutions within New Jersey. I remember there was a discussion about how other states like Florida, Georgia have been able to do this successfully. If you have SOPs or policies that you were able to establish to successfully defend these internal rates, do you mind sharing them? I am trying to convince the University Finance Office that this practice is being successfully used across other states and that we are not in violation of Uniform guidance.

Any help in this matter is appreciated. My goal is to have a network of universities (at least public) within NJ that can access core facilities cross-institutions without barriers.

    Regards

    Jeetu

    Hi Jeetu,

This came up on a recent NERLSCD call. Though I have not had success implementing such an agreement, we did a quick search and found the following:

I am sure there are some others out there so would also appreciate any guidance folks have here.

    Dear Andrew
Thank you for sharing the information. I will reach out to the points of contact at these Institutions that have successfully set these interinstitutional agreements.

    Hello Jeetu,

If it's helpful, Tim Denning with the Georgia Research Alliance spoke at the 2024 SEASR meeting.  His email is:  tdenning@gra.org.  We followed up with him after the meeting and he was receptive to working with ABRF.

Also, I've copied Soma to see if he can share information on a similar group, he's mentioned among the universities in Florida.....

    Regards,

    Hello,

OHSU developed a statewide internal rates structure for Oregon institutions. I'd be happy to share our MOU and information with you.

We are working on doing this as well, and are getting pushback from our finance people. Andy, I'd be very interested in seeing that MOU if you are able to share.
