  • 1.  Classification documents

    Posted 12 days ago

    Hello everyone,

I have been hearing the last few years at ABRF that there are templates on here for career pathways and position classification breakdowns.

After looking around a bit i cannot seem to find them, could any one on here point me to those documents?

    Thanks!

    Meghan

    Hi Meghan,

I may not be answering your question directly, however, I am sharing what is available at Florida State University, a public university in Florida.

    • The Core staff are given faculty status (most of them at least) and have a 12-month contract and are employees of the university (not on soft money)
    • Our Cores are decentralized and we report to our Department Chair/Director
    • We have three levels in our career ladder: Asst. Research, Assoc. Research, and Sr. Res. Assoc. With 15% pay increase between levels (negotiated through Collective Bargaining with 9-month faculty)
    • We are limited to 95% service and 5% teaching or other activities
    • Level 1 & 2 are eligible for promotion after 5-years of service. Level 3 (terminal level) gets 3% salary increase after every 7 years of service in that level
    • The titles are not fancy but the contract renewal process gives us one-year lead time for non-renewal for level 1 & 2  and 2-year lead time for level 3
    • I have been here for 30+ years indicating certain level of stability
    • Links for Level 1  Level 2 Level 3

If you need to talk to me you can reach out to me outside the Forum.

    Hope this is helpful.
