    Every day FASEB offers real value to its members by providing programs and services of benefit to you and your society. Here are just a few recent initiatives that demonstrate the value of a FASEB membership and our dedication to you and your society members.     🕘This Just In:

    FASEB Receives NIH MOSAIC Grant; Seeks MOSAIC Mentors

    FASEB received a $2.3 million grant over five years to enhance diversity within the academic biomedical research workforce. As part of the Maximizing Opportunities for Scientific and Academic Independent Careers (MOSAIC) initiative, FASEB MOSAIC will support promising postdoctoral researchers from diverse and historically excluded backgrounds as they transition into independent faculty careers.     Showcased Science on Capitol Hill

     

    FASEB joined with the Coalition for Life Sciences to co-host the Congressional Life Sciences Fair. Taking place annually on Capitol Hill, the fair enabled FASEB and a select group of member societies to engage lawmakers and their staff about the value of federal investment in the biosciences.     Evaluated Safeguards for Animal Care

     

    The National Academies invited FASEB to present preliminary survey results on the USDA's Contingency Planning Rule. Many of your members shared feedback on the first year of implementing USDA's requirement for all regulated entities at research institutions to create contingency plans. We will issue a final report with survey results and recommendations this fall. Continue reading

     

     

    Effected Short- and Long-Range Planning

     

    The FASEB Board, which comprises representatives from all FASEB Full Member societies, directly impacted our short- and long-term planning. In June, the Board heard program updates, reviewed our financial information, and continued its discussion on the viability of a new organizational structure. Continue reading

     

     

    Honored Your Members

     

    Holly Ingraham at the University of California, San Francisco, Pilar Alcaide at Tufts University School of Medicine, and Mariana Byndloss at Vanderbilt University Medical Center received our highest honor, the FASEB Excellence in Science Awards. In addition, 10 awardees received $5,000 FASEB CARES Awards to further their professional development. 2024 CARES recipients will be announced this fall.

     

     

    Enhanced Your Members' Skills

     

    FASEB continued to support your members by offering them several opportunities to fuel their career growth. Notably, applications were accepted for the Howard Garrison Advocacy Fellowship to build early-career scientists' advocacy and communications skills and LEAD, our reverse mentoring program, to facilitate sharing different perspectives within research communities. This year's fellows and mentoring pairs will be announced in the fall.

     

     

    Offered Cutting-edge Research On-Demand

     

    With the launch of FASEB Conferences On-Demand, your members now have access-anytime and anywhere-to the latest research findings in the biological and biomedical sciences. FASEB partnered with Wiley to launch this new service that features original content from FASEB's Science Research Conferences. Encourage your members to stream these videos.     Supported Your Society's Science

     

    FASEB is offering your members opportunities to shine a spotlight on your society's science by applying to organize a Science Research Conference. Encourage your members to establish themselves as prominent figures in your research community and enhance their credibility. Proposals are due September 26. Continue reading    

     

     

    Raised Awareness of IDeA and EPSCoR

     

    FASEB launched a webinar series to raise awareness about IDeA (Institutional Development Awards) and EPSCoR (Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research), funded through the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation, respectively. The series spotlights various states and scientists benefiting from the programs. Continue reading

     

     

    Did You Know?

    • Individuals at both Full and Associate Member societies can take part in special projects to help influence the life sciences field.
    • FASEB has several special interest groups (e.g., Public Affairs, Meetings and Conferences, Marketing and Communications, Publications, and DEAI to name a few) that staff at Full Member societies can take part in for learning and networking.
