ABRF CAN,
Justine and I had a promising conversation with NCURA, the National Council of University Research Administrators, about potential collaboration, including a Town Hall on topics of shared interest.
The initial list of suggested Town Hall topics is included below. We would appreciate your suggestions on these, or other, topics that you think would be relevant for ABRF Core Administration professionals and NCURA members. We see this as a first step toward collaboration with NCURA on future programming, including sessions at each group's meetings, and online programming.
We're hoping to schedule the Town Hall in September.
Thank you for your help.

Hello Tara,
Justine prepared these preliminary suggestions for the Town Hall:
1. What is a core or shared resource facility? (In the NCURA community, they have different categories for shared resources facilities and a core is one of them. In ABRF, we use the term cores broadly to represent all shared resource facilities.)
2. Uniform guidance and cores. Do's and don'ts and best practices for rate settings, compliance, etc.
3. The core eco system (from our FASEB) publication. This would highlight well the interactions of cores with other programs on campus such as central research offices, offices of sponsored programs administration, finance and compliance offices, sponsors, user groups, research collaborations and partnerships, etc.
4. The role of core facilities in supporting the research, training, clinical and other missions of institutions (force multiplier concept).
Let us know if you have other suggestions.....
We look forward to working together.
Thank you.
Ken
Dear Ken and Justine,
It was so nice meeting both of you this week!
We have a few members in mind for a September Town Hall.
I was looking at the former Town Halls on your website and they seem to have sessions titles, full descriptions and slides.
Can you share what specifically you are looking for as far as the topic, description, slides and time frame? Would they be the only presenters and their topic would be the full offering?
If it is easier we can have a quick call. I want to ensure I am sharing the information with our members so they can determine if this will work with them for September.
Best,
Tara
