Community College Day at ABRF 2023

The Association of Biomolecular Resource Facilities (ABRF) is an international professional organization for scientists and technologists who work in shared research, or core facilities around the world. Core facilities manage and operate leading-edge technology – such as flow cytometers, advanced microscopes, DNA sequencers, and mass spectrometers – and support the needed bioinformatics and data science that powers scientific discovery. Core facility personnel contribute to groundbreaking research in cancer, immunology, synthetic biology, bioprocessing, and many other areas.

The 2023 ABRF Annual Meeting features sessions for students who are interested in pursuing careers in this unique field and faculty interested in career opportunities for their students. You'll learn about career paths in core facilities that include technicians, research assistants, laboratory managers, finance administrators, and directors.

The special community college session will feature a mix of panel discussions and networking opportunities for community college students to learn more about how to prepare for these career options. Students from InnovATEBIO programs at MassBay Community College, Quincy College, and Gloucester Marine Genomics Institute will be part of the panel.

This is a great opportunity for students and faculty to meet core lab professionals and learn about their work. They can also visit the ABRF Exhibit Hall, see the instruments and systems used in core facilities, and talk to the vendors about career options in building and supporting laboratory instruments.

Meeting dates and location:  May 7-10, Sheraton Boston Hotel, Boston, MA

    Community College Day:  May 10th

Registration:  Registration for Community College Day is complimentary but required for all Community College participants.

Register by April 30 with the access code COMCOL51023 to attend and learn how you can be a part of this exciting field of scientific research.
