Dear ABRF community,
As you learned from Joe's last update, Task Force 3 is working hard to support professional development of SRR professionals. One of the ways we think we can achieve this is by recommending core-specific career paths to biomedical research institutes along with guidance on how to implement them at your institutes. We plan to develop guidelines for both core leaders to take to their institutional leadership and also to the institutional leadership to give them an idea of how these career paths have helped other institutes in several ways. Some of our member have already developed and implemented such career paths; some are in the process of developing them; and some are either struggling to develop them or have not even given it a thought. As a strategy to develop a career path that can be applied by most of our member institutes, Task Force 3 plans to meet with these different groups representing different stages of developing and or implementing such career paths. So far, we have met with a few representatives from institutional members who have benefitted from a career path for their core personnels. We gained valuable insights from that focus group meeting. We now plan to meet with representatives from non-institutional members who 1) have a successful core career path, 2) are in the process of developing and or implementing one, and 3) are either struggling or are not interested. Please let us know if you or someone you know fall into one of these groups. We would like to include you in our focus group. We will provide you with a set of questions before hand to give you an idea of what we plan to learn from your experience. If you are interested, please email me and Janette.
