  • 1.  Remi group- service contract consolidation company

    Posted 08-28-2025 13:40

    Good afternoon everyone,

I recently invited the Remi Group to a meeting with the Shared Resource Directors to discuss consolidation of service contracts within our Cancer Center.  The largest concern with using a third party to consolidate contracts is with the possiblility of a larger lag time between the service call request, and when a technician arrives onsite.  As we all know, downtime on equipment is costly.  I am looking for feedback from anyone that has their service contracts consolidated with a thrid party in general, but also with Remi Group specifically.

I appreciate your time and insight!

Morning Shawn - I've used Remi at my previous Institution, and they were quite a cost savings.  However, we only used them on instrumentation that it wasn't critical to minimize downtime (ie:   we didn't use them in our 24/7 FACS Facility).  If you have the flexibility with the equipment, it's certainly worth looking at for the cost savings.

    Happy to chat offline...

    Hi Shawn,

I tend to agree with Susanna. I use them as well for a couple of instruments. They are responsive to our requests, definitely cheaper, although cannot accommodate all type of service contracts. In one case they relied on a third party (what makes that a ninth party? Joking of course) rather than the manufacturer to be able to do the maintenance at lesser cost. Of course, that's a risk you need to weigh on a case by case.

    Best,
    Emanuele

If you can stand prolonged down time and have someone to handle increased paperwork on repairs, there might be a savings.  Before you go down that path, ask your OEM's if they will work with Remi or other "insurance providers".  Some have gotten burned in the past and will not work with such third parties.  One company told me I had to open a PO for them to charge if the insurance provider wouldn't pay up.  More paperwork.....
