    Happy Friday everyone.

There is a core facility member here at MSKCC who is looking to connect / ideally create a network withing ABRF focused on Immunohistochemistry / Immunofluorescence (tissue and cells).  In particular, he is interested in networking with respect to:

    • Antibody Validation in general / maybe guidelines for the fields
    • Multiplexing
    • Kits – oh so many kits – strengths and weaknesses
    • Troubleshooting

He has 17 yrs experience staining tissue sections in our core sees ABRF as an opportunity to grow more by connecting with like minded people.
He is an ABRF member but we need to resolve login stuff so I posted this in advance.

Several months ago, Monique Copeland, Scientific Operations Lead Specialist for the Histology Shared Resource at HHMI Janelia Research Campus, and I started up an email conversation string with Sheenah Mische regarding the possibility of getting an ABRF interest group started up for histology/histopathology/pathology cores. Sheenah suggested contacting Cindy Loomis and Valeria Mezzano in the NYU Langone Histo/Path Core. Monique sent an email to Kathy Cormier at Hope Babette Tang Histology Facility MIT who is hosting/running a "cross core sample handling roundtable" at the ABRF meeting. All of the above are connected and in agreement that a Histology Core interest group would be worth investigating, I am forwarding this meeting invitation to the Connected Communities conversation strand to connect about a meeting room that has been scheduled during the ABRF 2023 meeting for an informal gathering place for folks in histology cores as a networking place and to determine if an interest group could be initiated. Tuesday May 9th, 1-2pm ET The Clarendon Room 3rd Floor, Sheraton Boston Hotel. Wishing you a Happy Histology gathering! Hi All,

This could be an interesting topic to integrate into ABRF 2024 as there is a lot of potential for cross-over: Fluorescence, Imaging, Flow, Spatial-Omics, Data Management/Data Science...

    Thoughts?

    Hello,

I hope everyone is having a great week so far! I hope most of you will be in Boston for the annual ABRF meeting this year. We will be having a Histology Core interest group meeting Tues May 9th from 1-2. So anyone who would like chat about these subjects, (ab validation, multiplexing, kits etc) is welcome to drop in. An announcement will be made during the meeting to remind folks and to delineate the room number. See you there!

    Kathy

Thank you Kathy S, Joe and Kathy C for your replies.  I will let Afsar know that there is a budding Histology Core Interest Group.  He is full of enthusiasm and I am sure will attend you meeting on Tuesday.  I would like to connect you with him via email in advance if you are amenable.
