ABRF Colleagues:
I'm pleased to share the November ABRF EBrief, a summary of the decisions and discussions from the recent ABRF Executive Board meeting:
ABRF 2024 Budget – the Board discussed options to balance the draft budget, including adjustments to the AMR management expenses, as well as deferring commitments for DEIB leadership training and engaging a freelance science writer until after the results of the 2024 Annual Meeting are determined.
Updating the ABRF Strategic Plan – using the online collaboration tool Miro, the Executive Board reviewed and revised the current strategies and annual success measures for one of ABRF's Strategic Goals: Building a Diverse, Inclusive and Collaborative Community. A similar review is planned for the remaining Goals, with plans to gather feedback and suggestions from other ABRF leaders early in 2024.
Research Group and Committee Updates – the Board discussed the need to identify additional new members for several Committees and Groups, with targeted outreach planned to engage new volunteers to gain valuable leadership experience by contributing to these important ABRF activities.
ABRF 2023 Executive Board Election – the Board reviewed and finalized the slate of four candidates for the two seats to be filled in 2023. The election will be completed by the end of the year, with the new Board members invited to observe Board meetings beginning in January.
