ABRF Outstanding Scientist Scholarship and Founder's Award Applications Open:

Outstanding Scientist Scholarships are available to ABRF members who have made significant contributions to their institutional shared resource facility or to the ABRF. The scholarship is to be used to offset the cost of attending the ABRF Annual Meeting and all ABRF members are eligible. Students, postdoctoral fellows, laboratory technicians, junior staff, and administrators directly associated with the mission of member laboratories are encouraged to apply.
The Founder's Award is an endowed scholarship opportunity for the ABRF annual meeting. The scholarship is designed to support core staff who are in the early stages of their careers and have the potential for ABRF leadership. The Founder's Award was endowed by Ronald L. Niece, a founding member of the ABRF, to support junior core staff in advancing their careers by engaging and participating in the ABRF meeting.
The ABRF Outstanding Scientist Scholarship Award's benefits include:
- Complimentary ABRF membership for 2024
- Complimentary registration to attend the ABRF 2024 Annual Meeting, April 21-24 in Minneapolis
- Support for travel expenses to attend ABRF 2024 Annual Meeting (up to $1000)
The ABRF Founder's Award's benefits include:
- Complimentary ABRF membership for 2024
- Complimentary registration to attend the ABRF 2024 Annual Meeting
- Additional $250 travel support above the outstanding scholarship award (total $1250)
- Recognition during the ABRF Members' Meeting
- Complimentary registration of one ABRF educational workshop
Applicants should submit the following:
1. An application form
2. A letter of support from a supervisor outlining the outstanding attributes of the applicant. If the applicant is a facility director, a letter of support from a senior colleague or head of department must be provided. Letters of support can be submitted with the online application or can be sent after applying to scholarshipaward@abrf.org Letters must be received by the Feb 28 deadline.
No need to wait to register for the ABRF Annual Meeting. Successful applicants will have their registration covered by the award and will be reimbursed.
Please note that successful applicants must be members of ABRF at the time of the ABRF Annual Meeting and are required to attend the awards session to accept their prize.
Those who have received an Outstanding Scientist Scholarship (formerly the Travel Award) within the last three years are not eligible.
