    Hi all,

For those of you who may not already know about it, there is a fabulous database on Fluorescent Proteins called FPbase - https://www.fpbase.org/. It has a lot of information about FPs along with helpful tools including a fluorescent protein spectral viewer. This is so helpful for when a researcher wants to analyze cells with fluorescent proteins; I can guide them to the correct instrument, laser, filter, etc.

What tools do you find helpful for your core?

    Christiane,

I was introduced to FPbase by a colleague. In addition to the terrific database, I have been able to build several viewers that know the fluorescence filters on some of my widefield microscope systems, which is very handy. O
ften the hardest thing is figuring out the specs on the filters, since the vendors sometimes only provide generic information. Fortunately, some vendor's filter sets are already in the database.
