iLabs riot

  • 1.  iLabs riot

    Posted 17 days ago

    Hi ABRF community,

I am your neighborhood instigator. :)

I am wondering if the best way to start the conversation is for us to start with the prioritization lists from our institutions.

Then those of us who have iLabs at our institutions can do a preview of our current setups if we have solutions already for any of the items on the list.

then we can as a group look at the other items on the list and vote on what items to send up as a group to iLabs.

    who's in?

Meghan- If I understand correctly, you are looking to connect with other cores/institutions that use iLabs and see if there are any solutions that may be shared among the community. This would be performed upstream of interfacing with iLabs about feature improvements etc? Perhaps someone who has been active in the iLab user group meetings can also provide some contextual insight (as I have not engaged at this level).

We use iLab Operations at our institution and I would be happy to participate.

    Cheers!

    Hi Barbara!!

Yes that is correct! I figure if all the institutions that have iLabs come together with one voice we will have more power to persuade iLabs to prioritize our needs.

    Hi Meghan,

I’m not quite sure I follow what you want to do, but I have plenty of ideas about iLab….

Though I might want to wait until the roll out their new billing features next week.

    Hi Roxann,

I would like to have the institutions currently using iLabs to come together and prioritize needs while also potentially supporting each other with current one off solutions.

I will have to see what rolls out next week as well! I am not part of the day to day with iLabs anymore but will work with our team mate!

    Hi Meghan,

As heavy users of the iLab web interface and iLab API, we would like to be involved in any conversations you may have, so we're definitely in.

    Thanks,

    I second Kali!

I am also interested in being part of the conversation, and can probably provide input from other cores located at a different location from Kali/Advanced Genomics

I agree! There are features we request that don't seem to go anywhere so I welcome a community to decide priority of needs together and push it up the chain.

As long as they are ABRF members, they should be able to login and join the community

I feel the same thing happens with Stratocore.  There have been common requests that I and others have made that never get addressed.  I have made requests with other LIMS services and they have been responsive to myself and other customers.  Sorry to see that other services are not as concerned about the customer.

    Hi Meghan,

I'm in! I came to the same conclusion as you at the ABRF meeting, we will have more leverage with Agilent if multiple institutions make feature requests at the same time. One of the items we recently asked Agilent for was to be able to display/report the invoice date field.  It is captured in the system, but not readily viewable in what could be some useful areas.

    Hello Meghan,

I am interested in being part of these discussions.  I have been the administrator of our iLab since 2009 when we first implemented it for our cores.  I will agree that there are somethings that should be very straight forward when an institution is requesting a change but doesn't often happen and if more institutions have a similar ask I think it can be done quicker.
