  • 1.  Interested in Chatting with Directors of Microscopy Cores That Experienced a Merger

    Posted 05-21-2025 16:25

    Good afternoon all,

My institution has multiple core facilities all owned and managed by different departments/centers and across schools providing light and electron microscopy services to campus. In a recent discussion with stakeholders around the concept of some iteration of a core merger, some concerns were brought up as to the future impact. To answer these concerns, I am hoping to speak to any core directors that are either currently directing a core facility that historically merged as well as those involved with the merger themselves to ask some specific questions about departmental engagement, use of the core as a recruitment tool, and benefits, challenges, or lessons learned as we consider this scenario.

If you are interested/willing to chat, please let me know--and thank you to those who might receive this who already gave me their time on this topic!

Unfortunately I can't help with microscopy facilities, however I am interested in learnings from institutions that have merged/consolidated core facilities.  Some will be capability specific (eg microscopy) and other will be general.

    Thanks,

    Sarah
