In my previous role I was lucky enough to have in-house programmers who worked with me to create a custom LIMS for our metabolomics core. We were able to have a sample submission link from the Core website that pushed all the info into the LIMS, which included sample storage information, status information (extraction, LCMS method, whether the samples had been run, whether the data had been processed and analyzed, as well as the number of staff hours that went into the analysis) etc. When the project was completed all of this information was then pushed into the institute's billing system to automatically create an invoice.
Can anyone recommend a commercial LIMS that would be suitable for a metabolomics core? What are other people doing to manage this side of things?
