AAI strongly encourages you to write to your Members of Congress today to tell them how the current funding environment affects you, your institution, and your state. Join peers across the immunological research community who are sharing their personal stories about the importance of NIH funding.
A full-year appropriations bill for fiscal year (FY) 2025 was enacted in mid-March providing roughly flat funding for most health and science agencies, including the National Institutes of Health (NIH). While this law averts deeper cuts to science that many had feared, federal research funding remains under threat. It is vital for researchers to continue stressing the importance of robust investment in lifesaving biomedical research.
We ask that you join us in advocating for at least $51.3 billion for NIH for FY 2026, a funding recommendation supported by 510 organizations across the research community.
It's incumbent upon all of us to continue explaining why strong support for NIH is so crucial to scientific progress, creating a strong and sustainable pipeline of research, supporting state and local economies, and ensuring that the U.S. remains the preeminent leader in biomedical research.
