  • 1.  Request for Core Services by the Boz Institute

    Posted 18 days ago

    Hello Everyone,

A friend and colleague of mine, Goran Bozinovic from the Boz Institute is interested in seeking out services from ABRF cores for some of the institute's activities. Here are a couple of links to more information about the organization:

    Homepage - https://bozinstitute.org

Institute's mission and vision statements and info on their program - https://bozinstitute.org/about-us/

Goran will likely have a number of projects for cores in the future, and would like to establish some productive relationships with ABRF resources for future projects. He does have an immediate need, which is outlined in his email below. If any of you can provide assistance, I would be happy to make connections. Please see below:

    Hi Andy,

My lab has been using shallow RNASeq (3'-end seq) method for several of our gene expression studies as an affordable alternative to full RNASeq.  The cost per sample is significantly lower and we are mostly interested in mRNA expression. Our samples are processed by Scripps Research Institute Genomics Core, but they are short-staffed and won't be able to do it for a few months. Our total RNA samples passed the QC check, and we have plenty of RNA per sample for the analysis.  Citations of our recent papers using this methodology, and the original methods paper are below.

Do you know someone at ABRF who can do the same sample processing (shallow RNASeq), or if someone can advise on the alternative(s) to process the samples and generate the data?  The Scripps core does the library prep.  The flow cell we use is  NextSeq™ 1000/2000 P2 XLEAP-SBS™ Reagent Kit (100 Cycles), product number 20100987 (Illumina).  All of the raw data is normalized and analyzed internally (our lab does it), so the analysis support is not needed.

    Hello Andy,
We do offer 3'-RNA-seq services, not exactly the same as the one Goran is inquiring about (3'-Pool-Seq), but close.

If interested the BOZ Institute scientists could use our consultation link (https://dnatechlutz.youcanbook.me/) to discuss their needs.

We offer 3' RNA Seq services at Cornell.  You can find information here: https://www.biotech.cornell.edu/core-facilities-brc/services/illumina-libraries-large-projects

There is contact information and a link to schedule an office hour appointment via zoom.
