    Hey Everyone,

    I was wondering how some cores are charging $5-$8 per sample for Sanger Sequencing. My cost per reaction including BigDye 3.1, clean up, polymer, and buffers is $17.66. Even with a half reaction it's $10.20.

    Hi Ricardo,

    My instruments are fully amortized and I have a pretty high volume and good discounts because of other things that I do with Thermo.  And we do a 1/8 reaction, I think....it's been years since I've done the math.  I'm currently charging $7.  I do think that will go up next year given the outrageous increase in service contract prices, the pressure for higher salaries and the ever rising costs of plastics and other consumables.

    HI Ricardo,

     

    Like Roxann, my instruments are fully amortized.  But, we are doing 1/16 Big Dye reactions. Our fee is $6.75/rxn.  We were quoted a very significant increase in rates for our maintenance contracts, and I ended up going to a 3rd party provider, SeqGen.
