Hi ABRF Community,
Our surface analysis facility was recently awarded an NSF MRI for a new X-ray Spectrometer (XPS) system to be installed in Oct, and we are now in the midst of figuring out what to do with our old defunct system (a Physical Electronics XPS 5100 ci). While the system is no longer in use, there are quite a few valuable parts that could be repurposed. This facility recently had a horrid experience with a third party vendor when reselling some old atomic force microscopes, and are trying to be more strategic this go around to avoid duplicating that experience. I realized that this type of technology doesn't fit in exactly with the bio-related core facilities that ABRF frequently deals with, but if anyone has a lead on a reputable third party buyer/seller that works with a wide range of equipment types, or has a good system in place at their home institution about how to handle disposal of old but still valuable equipment, I am all ears! Thanks!
